Arizona Native, Betty Maxine Fulghum passed away surrounded by family on October 3, 2015. She was born in Tempe, Arizona on December 1, 1923 to Audley and Stella Butler and is pre-deceased by one older brother and two younger brothers. She married her husband Eugene Fulghum (deceased 1989) in Oklahoma and spent the early years of her marriage being a military wife. After the military they settled in her home state of Arizona and together they raised four boys. She lost her third son Doug in 2009 (Kathy) and is survived by Mike (Kay), Steve (Betty), and Greg (Alice). Betty is survived by eight grandchildren Kim, Adam, Alina, Carrie, Lesley, Karla, Robert, and Julia and ten great grandchildren who will miss her greatly. She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Education and spent her career molding the minds of children, retiring from the Balsz School District. Betty loved to spend time with her family hunting, fishing, camping, and repelling which she did well into her 60’s. She spent her retirement years traveling, volunteering at the Phoenix Zoo and caring for the roses at Mesa Community College. Her life will be celebrated with a memorial on October 12, 2015 at 10am at Resthaven Mortuary & Memorial Gardens in Phoenix. Address is 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042.
