Dorothy "Dort" Ormsby

Dorothy was born on February 24th, 1947 in Globe, AZ to James Ormsby. She was raised in Superior, AZ by her single father and grew up in mining caves and tunnels. She attended Hayden high school where she proudly graduated at age 16. Dorothy moved to the valley in the early 70s where she raised her 5 Children and was fortunate enough to retire early and help raise her grandchildren. Dorothy was not just a mother to her children but to the entire neighborhood, allowing all the kids to be in her home as if they were her own children and having fun with parties and gatherings. Dorothy was a huge Dallas cowboys and Nascar fan Going to many races and games with her son and grandson as well as playing in a weekly football pool for many years. Dorothy spent over 15 years volunteering for St Lukes on the mountain distributing food to the less fortunate and caring for her grandchildren going to the lake, river and camping. She loved her family and friends in her own unique way. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and Tia. She had a large family and was loved by many. Dorothy is preceded in death by her father James Ormsby, husband Jose Perez, Sister Joan Lara, Brothers Jim, Lambert and Michael Ormsby, Pete and Ronnie Reyes, her granddaughter Amanda Alvarado and her beautiful daughter Lori Ann Alvarado. Dorothy is survived and dearly missed by her children Joe Paul Alvarado (Judy), James Alvarado (Anna), Kim Nava (Lou), Jolene Perez. Sister Rosa Arenas and brother Robert Reyes. Grandchildren Jessica, Celina, Angela, Joe Jr, Ashley, Brianna, Allysa (Tomas), Krystal (Albert), Anthony Jr, Destiny, Treasure, Marki, Sydney, Courtney. Great Grandchildren Benjamin, Aubrey, Hailee, Alonso, Luke, Isabella, Sapphira, Amora, Ezekiel, Joziah, Emilio, Santiago, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for Dorothy will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. The burial will take place Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Fairview Cemetery, 300 W Sunset Dr, Superior, AZ 85173.
