Edith "Edie" Schmelzer passed away peacefully August 10th, at Friendship Village, Tempe. Edie was born in Walthill, Nebraska on November 1, 1935 to Russel and Alga Huff. Alga, Edie, and her siblings moved to Phoenix in 1940 where mom attended Phoenix Union High School and met her husband, Jim, of 55 years.
Edie worked in the Roosevelt School District in Phoenix and Chandler School District as a secretary to the principal. Edie was a wonderful cook and baker, and loved to grow roses in her garden. Edie is survived by her son Michael, daughter Julie and husband Jim, grandson Aaron and wife Joy and great-grandson Colin.
Services will be held Thursday, September 25th at 10:00 am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 4310 E Southern Avenue, Phoenix. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
