Resident of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully at age 78 in San Jose, CA on Saturday, January 22, 2011, following a short battle with cancer. John was predeceased by his wife, Maria Elena Silvas and survived by his children, Paul (Sam) Silvas, Jean Ann (Ray) Anton; grandchildren Krystyl Ann Silvas, Sarah Elizabeth McCullough, Nicholas John McCullough; and great grandchild Mark Cooper Silvas. John was raised in Phoenix, AZ. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He and his family moved to San Jose, CA in 1971, where he worked in television repair and later in computer electronics until he retired. He moved back to Arizona in 1998. John was a devoted Catholic who ministered communion to the elderly.
He was an active member of the VFW. John will be remembered as a loving, caring family man. Services: Sat. Feb. 5: Rosary 9:30am at St. Edwards Church, 4410 E. Southern Av in Phoenix followed by Mass 10:00am. Burial 11:00am at Resthaven Park, 4310 E. Southern Av. Afterward, a reception will be held by the family.
