

Johnie affectionately known as “Buster” was born December 18, 1935 in Statesville, NC to the late Elmore and Esther (Templeton) Scott.
He attended Price High School in Salisbury, NC and graduated in 1953, and then attended Benedict College for one year before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1954. He served in several different positions which centered around his passion as a Jet Engine Technician, Trainer, Instructor, and Investigator. He also received several accolades such as, the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Good Conduct Medal before retiring in 1974 to pursue a career as an Airline Jet Engine Mechanic Supervisor.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the saxophone, piano, and played in a military retirement band before moving to the Phoenix area where he continued to enjoy his music and family.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Joyce (Lawson) Scott of Laveen, AZ; his daughter, Dawn Scott of Richmond, VA; his step-daughters Lisa Evans of Phoenix, AZ and Vernetta Argusta of Tempe, AZ; two step-sons, Marvin Fisher Lawson (Tonya), and Hakeem “Cricket” Argusta, both from Phoenix, AZ; his sister, Margaret Marks of Statesville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother Joe Neil Scott Sr.
