Judith Sue Morris, 68 went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2015. Judy was born on February 7, 1947 to Angelo (deceased) and Wilma Fierro in Phoenix, Arizona. Judy was a lifelong resident of the Phoenix area graduating from South Mountain High School in 1965 and Arizona State University in 1970. In years past, Judy was an elementary school teacher both full time and as a substitute teaching in Tucson and Phoenix. Her past affiliations included being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at ASU and a Junior Leaguer. Judy was more importantly, a homemaker raising two beautiful daughters, Angela and Holly. Judy is survived by her mother, Wilma Fierro, Rod Morris, her “biggest fan forever,” daughters Angela Zapustas of Boston, Massachusetts, Holly and son-in-law Paul Schneider of Gilbert, Arizona as well as her brother, Sam Fierro and his wife, Chris of Vancouver, Washington. Her daughters gave her 5 beautiful grandchildren to spoil including Olivia and Riley Zapustas as well as Alexis, Austin and Drew Schneider. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E Southern Ave, Phoenix.
Although we are personally saddened by her loss, we glory in knowing she is with the Lord with a brand new perfect body doing God’s bidding. For we who remain and knew her so well, we just know that she is making everyone in heaven smile as she was so good at doing during her way too brief a time with us.
There are too few words to describe Judy and the positive impact she has had on literally the hundreds of people who were blessed by her amazing life. To us all, Judy was humble while being strong of character, loving, giving, selfless, kind, gentle, loyal while being a staunch protector of those she loved, welcoming and charismatic.
Although she never believed it, Judy was a leader. Whether at home, work or at a party, she was the one where everyone always gravitated. Her smile was infectious making all those around her feel comfortable and at ease. Many of us have had the pleasure of watching her and Sammy jitterbug and were amazed how her natural rhythm lit up a dance floor. She always referred to herself as a “foodie.” She loved her Mexican food and all that was spicy. When entertaining at home for family and friend events, we all knew that not getting enough to eat was our own fault.
In past years, many will remember Judy as one who enjoyed playing tennis with a weekly group and bridge with close friends with a glass of wine after the first and during the second.
Judy was always a busy and socially active person up until the end of her life. Upon giving her arrival information on a recent trip, Judy was quick to ask “what time are you arriving, as I am playing bridge and have a party to go to and don’t want to miss you.” Her cousin, Cheryl Sucato has a new phrase that will forever sum up Judy and that being, “Nails done on Friday with her sister-in-law, Chris; Christmas shopping on Saturday and not being late to her appointment with her Lord, on Monday.”
God’s word tells us that He created angels to do His work in Heaven and on earth. He also created guardian angels to personally watch over each of us. Let us then be comforted in the knowledge that He created Judy with the special intention of blessing the lives of each and every one of us. She was always up to the task. Should God ever decide He needs one more angel He just received into his merciful arms a worthy candidate.
