

born March 4, 1928, in Juniata, Nebraska, died January 27, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. His family moved to Colorado in 1936 where he graduated from Hooper High School in 1946. The family moved to Arizona in 1946 where he lived the rest of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1949 serving 3 years, part of that time in the Korean War, where he was wounded twice. Upon returning he was employed by The Salt River Project as a tree trimmer. He retired 34 1/2 years later as a Division Superintendent. Len loved his family and friends and was loved in return for his kindness, generosity and sharp wit. Len loved the desert; he knew its plants and animals well. He enjoyed camping, hunting and playing cards. He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 59 years, Louise (Scott) Duscher, son Michael (Linda) Hoffman; 6 Grandchildren Paul, Karen Shannon Andrew, Nickolas (Jennifer) Hoffman, Hannah (Brian) Froehlich and Staci (Patrick) Jedyski; and 6 Great-grandchildren, Brenna, Jordyn, Logan, Madeleine, Carter, London; brothers Louis and John, sisters Gertrude (Bob) McDougall and Joanne Pfeiff. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers.
