You’re gone.
And the world feels quieter now,
emptier in places I didn’t know you filled.

But I feel you still,
in the orange sky that stretches wide at dusk.

I hear you in the whoot of the owls,
low and steady through the trees,
as if they know
what I’ve lost
and sing it back to me.

I search for you in the faces of other grandmas, 
in their gentle smiles,
in the way they move slowly,
as if carrying years of love in their bones.
But none of them are you.
And my heart aches for the one it knew.

I reach for you in dreams,
and sometimes, you stay.

I hold onto memories,
and they hold onto me.

You are all around me, 
in the light that flickers through the window,
in the shadows that stretch across the floor.

I miss you deeply,
but I keep looking for a sign
in everything that reminds me
you are still with me.

I will never forget you, 
not in this life,
not in the next.

And I love you
more than memory,
more than time,
more than words
will ever hold.

I love you, Grandma. Forever.

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And said, “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home

They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way we all feel,
For no-one knows the heartache,
That lies behind our smiles,
No-one knows how many times,
We have broken down and cried,
We want to tell you something,
So there won't be any doubt,
The memories are wonderful to think of,
But you are so hard to be without.
