Mamie Lee Harris

Mamie Lee Harris, affectionately known as Big mama, peacefully departed this earthly life on December 21, 2023, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 100. Born on October 23, 1923, in Crocket, Texas, to her late parents, Willie Mae and Dan Jordan, Mamie's legacy is one of love, kindness, and devotion.

Big mama's warm and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She possessed an unwavering kindness and a zest for life that brought joy to those around her. Mamie found solace and happiness in the great outdoors, cherishing the beauty of nature and its serene tranquility. Her love for nature was truly contagious.

Throughout her life, Mamie dedicated herself to the noble profession of caregiving. As a domestic caregiver, she selflessly provided comfort and support to countless individuals, leaving an indelible impact on their lives. Her caring nature and genuine compassion earned her the respect and gratitude of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mamie's memory will forever be cherished by her loving children: Jesse, Johnny Ray, Jimmy, Ann, Diane, Doris, and Dottie. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Dan Jordan, as well as her siblings Raymond, Van, Dan, Charles, Amanda, and Alberta. Mamie was the beloved wife of the late Dan Harris and the devoted mother to her late daughters JoAnn, Delores, and Frances, and her late sons Jay Van (Billy), Bennie, and Stanley.

Mamie also leaves a host of Nieces and Nephews and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, relatives and friends.

The compassionate staff of East Resthaven Park Mortuary will be assisting the family during this difficult time.

As we bid farewell to Mamie Lee Harris, let us remember her as a beacon of love, strength, and resilience. May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory forever inspire us to embrace the virtues of kindness and compassion in our own lives.

A visitation for Mamie will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. A committal will occur Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042.
