Pedro Parra Quintero was born on March 6, 1938, to his loving parents, Agustin and Angelita Quintero. He met his future wife, Eva, while working as a seasonal migrant worker in Wasco, California. Their families became fast friends, however, Eva and Pete’s lives went down separate paths. Pete was fortunate to grow up with 7 siblings, Mercedes, Manuel, Arnold, Angelina, Catalina, Jose Juan, and Isidoro, and to be surrounded by a huge, and loving family. He was an excellent student and graduated from high school in 1958. Pete had fortunately not left for the military yet when the greatest hour of need in Eva’s life would arrive. She had gone into labor and had no way to get to the hospital. Eva’s brother ran to find him, and Pete drove Eva to the hospital where she was blessed with her first daughter, Debbie. After Debbie was born, Pete joined the military and served as a sergeant from 1961-1963, during the Cuban Missile crisis. On his behalf, his sister and mother went to Eva’s father and asked for her address so he could write to her. Their relationship grew through letters while he was away and they were married on December 24, 1962. They were blessed with 6 more children: Paul, Lisa, Stevan, Roberta, Sofia, and Eva Marie, who went on to give Eva and Pedro 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pedro was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the River of Life Tabernacle Church. He was known by all for his larger than life spirit, generosity that knew no bounds, and for making everyone around him feel like family. He loved unconditionally, was grounded in his faith, and his presence and positivity was felt by all. He loved making food to feed family and friends and you knew if you stopped by you’d never leave hungry. Pete lived a beautiful life dedicated to the Lord and his loving family. His incredible capacity to love will live on in those left behind.
Pete was called home to our Lord on July 28, 2024, exactly 4 years and one week after his beloved wife, Eva. He is also preceded in death by his parents, siblings Mercedes, Manuel, Arnold, Angelina, Catalina, daughter Debbie, granddaughter Tina Marie, and grandson Andrew.
