Alfred Sesma was born on June 25, 1943 in East Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in a neighborhood with lots of families with farm animals, and quickly developed a love for horses which lasted his whole life. He also loved to eat and loved to cook. His love for chili was so extreme he'd even take his own bottle of hot sauce to restaurants to spice things up. Of his many jobs and careers, he was best known as an auto body painter. He is the father of four children, Susan, Julie, Fred, and Vicky. Due to some difficulties in his life, he spent much time away from his family while incarcerated. During this time, he would receive visitors, and write many, many letters. It is within these letters that one can see a wonderful transformation that occurred in 2007 when he gave his life to Jesus Christ and received forgiveness and salvation. Some excerpts from these letters are included in the printed program.
Alfred was released from prison on New Year's Eve, 2012 and came home to live with his daughter Vicky and family. He was able to attend church, eat many of his favorite foods, watch westerns, and visit family. Although his health quickly declined, all of us consider it a real blessing that he was surrounded by family and loved ones. He went home to heaven on March 25, 2013
We rejoice because Alfred knew his Savior and is now residing in glory where "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
He survived by his four children, Susie, Julie, Fred, and Vicky; four grandchildren, Rachel, Jamie, Sam, and Daisy; brothers, Robert Sesma, Tom Grijalva, and Frank Grijalva; sister, Eileen Lopez; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corinne Grijalva and Alfred Sesma.
