

Betty Richard Blanchard, age 73, a native of Belle River and resident of Pierre Part, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. She was a retired lunchroom cook for Assumption Parish Schools with over 33yrs of service.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Rivers “Pop” Blanchard; three daughters Belinda McGuigan and husband Brian M. McGuigan, Melonia “Mama Mel” Gros, and Fannie Daigle and husband Milton Daigle Sr.; son Louis “L.J.” Aucoin Jr. and wife Rosalie; brother Henry Richard and wife Judy Richard; sister-in-law Lucy Richard; eight grandchildren Christine Aucoin, Chad Boudreaux, Brian P. McGuigan, Crystal Gros, Charles John “C.J.” Gros, Jay Pierre Aucoin, Milton Daigle Jr. and Saulden Daigle; six great-grandchildren Luke, Zeth, Zach, Derek, Kelli, Ireland, and twins due in August.
Preceded in death by her parents Roy Richard Sr. and Odelle Landry Richard; brother Roy Richard Jr; and two children stillborn twins.
She loved to cook, sew, and family gatherings were here favorite. The family would like thank Journey Hospice of Houma for the care given to their mother.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 9:45 A.M. Monday April 30, 2012 at Ourso Funeral Home of Pierre Part.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation on Monday at 10 A.M. in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Belle River.
