I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. Coming into the world on August 16, 1949 as the second child of Pierre and Odilia (Albarado) Mabile, Calvin began his faith filled life journey in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. After graduating from Assumption High School in 1968, Calvin enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country as a field communicating equipment program repairman for two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post #328 and VFW 10701 Pierre Part, Belle River.
Calvin married Bonnie Breaux Mabile, and together they raised four children, Guy, Mandy, Jonas, and Renee Mabile Thompson (Dominic). In addition to being survived by Bonnie, Guy, Mandy, and Renee, Calvin is also survived by one brother, Douglas (Mary) Mabile, and two sisters, Barbara (Shelbey) Breaux, and Lisa (Glenn) Templet, a sister in law Geneva Gros and a brother in law, Louis (Jeannie) Breaux, Jr . He is also survived by his most precious grandchildren, Austin, Raven, Trent, Seth, Ethan, Mason, and Bella, and many nieces and nephews. Calvin passed away on August 25, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Calvin is proceeded in death by his son Jonas, parents, Pierre and Odilia Mabile, brother Jerry Mabile, sister Loretta Mabile, father in law and mother in law Louis and Nelia Breaux, Sr., brother in law Norris Gros, Sr, and nephew Chris Gros. Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and LSU and Saints football. He was a 31 year employee of Mosaic in St. James. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. A special thanks to Dr. Bryan Bienvenue of Louisiana Hematology-Oncology Associates, Dr. Benton Oubre of Gastroenterology Associates, and Dr. Robert Fields of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center for the 9 years of compassionate, dignified, and professional medical care they provided for Calvin.
