I'm so sorry...I barely knew Michael.. but I do remember you Gus.  You changed my life.  I'm so so sorry for your loss.  

Well, I was looking you up in the hopes of reconnecting- we left it on such a bad note and I wanted to apologize for my part. Even after all these years I have gone over all the “what if’s” but I guess the universe wants me to stop looking back. 

To Gus, God….. “I’m sorry for you loss” isn’t even close to enough. When you would tell the anecdote about realizing that your children’s lives meant the death of you; that they could ruin you- I didn’t understand and only wished I knew such a love. Now I do in Vincent . it is the most joyous bittersweet damning feeling in the world. The love you have for your sons stayed with me and greatly influenced the mother I am today. Thank you. My heart is heavy for you. The universe has a plan, the universe has a plan, the universe has a plan. I pray you, me, and everyone for that matter can hold onto that….. hope. One foot in front of the other- walking, crawling, stumbling down our path until the universe sees fit. May your heart mend with stitches of silver and gold as the clouds after a night storm ring in the new day.

I  remember Michal's easy smile and quick laughter. The anguish is incomprehensible. I believe that Michael's spirit has crossed over and is with us, in the essence of the now. My heart aches for Michael's family and friends. I know and share their grief. Engraved on my heart is the memory of when Gus stood by my side offering the gifts of love, support and compassion as I experienced the death of my own son, Benjamin. 

I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, I know."

I said, "God, I cry a lot."
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."

I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."

I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."

I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, I saw mine nailed to a cross."

I said, "God, but your loved one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."

I said, "God, where are they now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right and yours is in my arms."

I used to sit with Michael on the patio and we would listen to jack Johnson’s album and he would sing every word to the song banana pancakes. He was so gentle, so kind and so caring. All he wanted was to be liked and appreciated because he truly appreciated everyone in his life. He was the easiest person to talk to, he asked a lot of questions about me , it’s rare to converse with someone who you truly feel is interested. He reminded me so much of his amazing mother Julie and was so calm and easy going. Rest in piece buddy
