Regina Anne Theisen, nee McDonough, of Pompano Beach, Fl passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. She was 94 years old. Regina (Ginny) was born in Pittsburgh, part of a large family with Irish heritage. There she attended Westview High School and Carlow College.
Possessing an independent mindset and curiosity for new things, she left Pittsburgh in 1950 to apply to TWA airlines. She was a flight attendant for 10 years traveling both domestically and internationally and living in New York, Kansas City, San Francisco and Chicago. Through her acquaintances at TWA, she met Gerard J. Theisen. They married in 1960 and settled in Park Ridge, IL, where they raised three children.
Having left TWA when she got married, she did not stay grounded long. Developing an entrepreneurial spirit, she opened a consignment gift store in her home called The Mushroom Kingdom, selling handmade art and decorations from local artists and craft's people. Her local interactions and contacts led her to work in residential real estate, which she would continue for the remainder of her life.
Ginny and Jerry would eventually move to Pompano Beach Florida where they lived in a seaside condominium complex. She continued her interests in education, travel, and the arts. This led her to a position with Lynn University’s Study Abroad program. She participated in student and faculty trips to Ireland, Japan, China, London, Egypt, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. In 2009, Ginny graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lynn University. She received her graduate degree in 2013.
Her Pittsburgh family organized regular family reunions from the 1960’s to the present, with the ever-growing group of siblings, children and grandchildren. She cherished these returns to Pittsburgh to reminisce, catch-up, and laugh.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Lori. Her son Bob, his wife Brenda and their children Lauren, Ryan and Joe. Her son Bill, his wife Amy and their children Molly and Luke. She is also survived by her brothers William and Tom McDonough, and her sisters Vera McDonough, Kay Madden and Marion Feeney as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be on July 9, 2025, at 10 am, at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach FL, 33064
