Dorothy was retired from the City of Port Arthur a City Inspector and loved by everyone who knew her. The most important things in her life were her family and faith. She was a very strong lady and a mother to many as her mother had died when she was very young leaving her to raise her younger brothers and sister. Then after marrying, she raised two daughters and five sons. She then returned and finished her high school and college education at the age of 58, and went to work for the City of Port Arthur retiring at the age of 75. Dorothy was fluent in sign language and volunteered to help many hearing impaired with daily functions such as doctor visits. A few of her favorite things were gardening, taking care of her pets and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack Buchanan.
