Born on February 28th, 1961, at St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, TX, Greig was the beloved son of Patsy Ayers and the late George Roy. He proudly graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School and dedicated over 20 years to his career as a Safety Man, retiring just last year in 2024.
On March 24th, 1984, Greig married Darlene Roy, the love of his life. Together, they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life filled with love and family.
Greig's warm spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Roy; his children Jeremiah Roy and Caitlin Wersig and their spouses Rikki Roy and Adam Wersig; his mother, Patsy Ayers; and his siblings, David Roy, Judy Ferguson, Mark Roy, Lisa Williams, Scott Roy and his wife Angie, and Brian Roy. He was preceded in death by his father, George Roy.
Greig was known as one of the funniest and most hardworking individuals one could ever meet. He was incredibly generous and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger whether at HEB (his happy place!) or at his favorite Mexican restaurant.
He possessed a remarkable passion for the arts, with hobbies too numerous to count. Greig poured his heart into woodworking, jewelry making, macrame, painting, and countless other crafts. More than just creating, Greig cherished making things for others, sharing his talent and kindness through his handmade gifts.
When Greig wasn’t working or crafting, you could find him and Darlene at the beach in Galveston where they created cherished moments together by the ocean.
A gathering to honor Greig's life will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, located at 4841 39th St., Port Arthur, TX 77642. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the funeral home by Tuesday, May 13th.
Greig touched many lives with his humor, work ethic, and boundless generosity. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
