Jean Milton Menard Jr.

1963 - 2022

Jean Milton Menard Jr. passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was born in Port Arthur, TX on February 10, 1963 to Dorothy Mae Menard (Broussard) and Jean Milton Menard Sr. He is the youngest of three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Jean, and his middle brother, Russell Jean Menard.

Jean is survived by his oldest brother, Allen Kirk Menard and wife Penny Hebert Menard and their two daugthers Emily Skye Menard and Jennifer Ciel Olano (New Orleans LA). Jean is also survived by his niece Barbi Martin and her two sons, Jesse and Jacob (Marian IA).

Jean was a long time resident of the Robin’s Nest group home currently in Groves TX. He was also a long time attendee of the Spindletop DayHab facility in Port Arthur. Jean enjoyed the game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and just about any 1970’s television series. He loved bowling, attending DayHab, going out to eat, particularly bacon cheeseburgers with fries and a Coca Cola, anything Texas, books about the state capitols, puppies and kittens, collecting board games, and getting $2 in the mail from his big brother so he could get snacks from the Spindletop vending machines. He could be silly and funny, sensitive, and surprisingly insightful about the things going on around him.

When family and friends would ask his big brother how Jean was doing, his big brother would always say “Jean is the happiest person I know!”. Jean was tender hearted and sweet, and would always worry if someone was upset or crying. He could also be mischevious and promptly be apologetic when caught. Jean lived a simple yet joyful life, and was most always content, a living example something most of us could learn from. It is worth noting he could not have enjoyed the comfort and pleasures of this simple life without the care of the many wonderful people who have a special calling for taking care of those with special needs.

Jean will be dearly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Services will be held at the Grammier Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St., Port Arthur, TX on Monday, June 6th, 2022. Visitation will be at 10am with a service to follow at 11am. Jean will be interred at Greenlawn Cemetary.
