Jimmy was born on November 7, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas to Vergie Mae Cummings Wheat and Donald Wheat. He had lived in Groves all of his life and was a retired welder and operator for thirty-five years at Fina Oil in Port Arthur. Jimmy loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Hawkins and her husband James of White, Georgia and Doneane Wheat of Carrollton, Georgia; sisters, Jeanette, Bobbie and Doneane; grandson, Brandon Wheat of Charleston, South Carolina.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Crematory in Bridge City, Texas.
