

Donald was born on June 28, 1927, in Port Arthur, Texas to Adelaide Carrier Picou and Talton Joseph Picou, Sr. He had lived in LaBelle for twenty years and after getting married he lived in Port Acres for the last sixty-three years. Donald was a retired instrument man for Texaco Oil Refinery for over thirty-five years until he retired in 1982. He was a member of the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres and coached little league baseball for over ten years. He loved to deer hunt and loved teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt. Donald also loved horses and even courted his soon to be wife of sixty-three years, Lucy Hubbard on his horse “Dunn” who eventually passed away. Later, Donald got a new horse “Blaze” who was a close companion of his for many years. He loved his family, his church, his horse and his friends and will be greatly missed.
Donald is survived by his wife, Lucy Picou of Port Acres; children, Joseph Donald Picou, Jr. and his wife, Pat of Port Acres, Clint James Picou and his wife Donna of Fannett, Linda Picou Myers and husband Jimmy of Port Acres, Monty Picou Eshbach and husband Edgar of Orangefield; brothers, James Picou of Florida, Ray Picou, Tommy Picou, Tony Picou, Gabe Picou and Steve Picou all of Fannett, Paul Picou of Colorado and Victor Picou of California; sisters, Essie Hidalgo and Marge Carter both of Fannett, Lee Bertrand and Theresa DeVillier both of Winnie, Annie Hubbard of Nederland and Alicia Harvey of Beaumont; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clarence Picou.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres with Father Rejimon E. George serving as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
