Josephine grew up with her four brothers and two sisters in Elgin, Texas, and graduated from Elgin High School. She married Joe Garcia Jr. and moved to Port Arthur, Texas, where they helped to run the family business, El Charro Mexican Restaurant. She also took care of her home and raised four children. She loved to take arts and crafts classes, learning to sew and craft pottery. She enjoyed traveling across the state of Texas and Mexico with her sister, Julia. She also enjoyed caring for others, especially her grandchildren. She even worked for some time at Red Apple Daycare. Josephine was sweet and loving person. She enjoyed sitting back with a good Bloody Mary and observing the people around her. She loved to visit and meet people, and always enjoyed going back to Elgin to visit with family and friends.
Josephine is survived by her son Joseph Edward Garcia; her son Benjamin M Garcia; and her daughter Beatrice Noyola and husband Jesse; her grandchildren Joe H Garcia, Tracy Guerrero, Jesse Noyola Jr., Jennifer Rebecca Salter, and Jason A Salter. She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren to cherish her memory; Austin, Aspyn, Azlyn, Ayden, Adilyn, Hadyn, Alexis, Harlee, and Jaedyn.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Joe Garcia Jr.; her daughter Rebecca A Salter; her father Joaquin Hernandez, and her mother Josefa (Escalante) Hernandez.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Josephine will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 8:00 AM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. With a Celebration of Life to follow at 10:00 AM. Josephine will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX 77619.
Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Noyola Jr, Austin Guerrero, Colton Loftin, Frank Roy, and Juan Juarez.
