To my sweet cabbage patch doll, Josh:

What I wouldn't do for one more Joshua Borel hug. Not a day goes by that I don't miss you. You really knew how to sing and dance and play, lift someone's spirits up, lend a helping hand and give great hugs! You were also one of the most loyal people I know.

I remember teasing you when you were a little boy telling you that you were a little cabbage patch kid over and over again. You finally looked up at me a little confused and told me, "Well, your just a big, fat watermelon!" We all got a big laugh with that one. 

I also remember going to Sea World with you. You were afraid to ride a roller coaster, but you and I happened upon kiddie land and found one that wasn't so intimidating. You finally overcame your fear and agreed to ride it with me. You did it!

 It's hard to write this because as I do I remember how sweet you were and the times we shared and realize there are no more. But, I do have comfort knowing that we will meet again one day in heaven and you will be there to encourage me on.

Josh, I remember the first day I held you in my arms. You had me wrapped around your little finger from that moment on. I remember when you were learning to talk and all you would say is, "what's that"? You never repeated the word until one day you surprised us all and just spoke in complete sentences. Oh, how you loved to talk from then on, ha ha! I remember how much fun we all had going to the beach together. You loved the water then and fishing was your passion. But, being with your brother, dad, and paw-paw is what made it a great day for you. You loved your family with all your heart and loved it when we gathered together. I was blessed to be your maw-maw and have you in my life. I will miss you hugging me and saying "I love you my maw-maw".  I hear you whisper in my ear now and say, "don't cry maw-maw, I'm doing good". 
You were a loving, generous young man and not afraid to show it. I love that about you.  We had many conversations sitting at the kitchen table. The last time I saw you we sat here and talked about the bible. That was the last of many, many conversations about the bible that we had. We laughed about how I would turn up my christian music in the mornings so loud so you and Alex would get up for school. You told me that I need to start my days like that now too. You said it made you smile before you opened your eyes. I am so glad that you called and asked if you could come visit and spend the night. 
Well baby, you beat me to heaven and now all of your questions are answered. I know you are always going to be watching over us all until we meet you there.  I love you Josh and miss you so much.

Open love letter to my first love Joshua Wade Borel. 
Just a few weeks before our last conversation you sent me a song "happens like that" by Granger Smith. I hold those words dear to my heart now. I should of made that drive. Our time together was fun and full of adventure always. You had a way of making everything better. Most people don't know that you searched for me for years until you finally found me again . We picked up right where we left off always making jokes our late night conversations were so silly. I wish I could call you now, you would be happy for me. We had one of those love stories you hear about in country song's wasn't always perfect but we never could let each other go. I miss you Josh I know you probably have a nice little fishing hole you found up there. Save me a spot untill I see you again. 

Ive always loved how whenever josh spoke to me he didnt end it without letting me know how beautiful I was and what I was worth. Josh, kayla, alex and I grew up very close, our parents always had us together.  We loved playing certain games, tge boys where bruce lee, us girls needed saving obviously but also we would play "office" and hide and seek and tag. I will always love and remember you josh. I still cant believe it as i write this. 

Josh and I would always message each other and we liked to message each other riddles. We loved guessing each others riddles. Im going to miss that a lot.  I love you joshua i hope you visit me in my dreams soon. Can't wait t to see you again sweet cousin.

Josh was my next door neighbor for the longest time. I remember some of the best memories with him. I used to climb over the fence just to hang out with Kayla, josh and Alex. Josh was always so kind! He was like a big brother to me. Always had my back for everything. We used to walk to the corner store all the time after we would play football in the front yard. There was one time josh pushed me so hard i fell right threw a fence while playing football. These were the good old days. The days we used to come inside when the sun went down and the street lights turned on. Josh was the person i could Turn to when my day went bad, he would guide me through things. He was a man of god. He would always talk about Jesus day and night. He would always tell me how great of a mom i was even when i didnt think so.. I had The best memories with josh and he will truly be missed deeply! We will see you on the other side bro! We love you and miss you so much!! 

Joshua is my grandson, I'll never forget the day he and Kayla came into this world. Oh, the excitement I felt! It was a rough beginning for you, but you were strong and made it through. 
  You always loved for me to sit and read to you, I cherished doing it. When you had been in school for a short time you came to visit me and said Grams! You don't have to read to me, I can read to you! How proud we both were
  As a teenager you were very hard to wake up in the mornings! So I tried to make it more fun, by going into your room singing; a little birdie with a yellow bill hopped upon my windowsill. Cocked his shiney eyes and said " wake up you sleepy head!"; while tickeling you. You would try and give me the evil eye but could never hold it. When I saw you at the funeral, and you looked so peaceful this song came to my mind. I looked at Kayla, and said he has risen; and knew you were with our savior. 
  When I fell from the attic, you rushed to my side so concerned and scared, but did a wonderful job of taking care of me and getting me help.
  Always so kind, so gentle, so loving, and oh so sweet! A God send. I will never forget your laughter, your hugs, or your spirit.

There were so many days where..we drove each other crazy! So many more that we needed to be together. 
People talk about you showing them to fight...and I know that side of you. The side that wanted to have fun, and help people defend themselves. What's great...is that even when you had to defend yourself...the moment that person was no longer standing, you simply backed off...and would HELP THEM BACK UP! You had a heart of gold. You felt everything and everyone. Always needing to make peace and bring smiles to the people around you, whether you had known them years...or five seconds. You enjoyed loved to give insight when you could... everything you knew, you wanted to pass along. Even when you were frustrating...it is incredibly hard for someone to not love you! I remember being a goofy kid...being cranky and sitting on the couch...you coming to sit with me and happen to touch a toe...I'd blow up. You would be so confused...but even though you knew it would make me angry, you'd get closer instead of giving me my space! Lol I'll miss that. Scary movies were great...you needed to be next to me squeezing my hand or leg! I'd have to get up and turn lights on so you could go the the bathroom later or get snacks! We took turns protecting each other...and our Alexx. Oh boy how both of us got lit up if he was in trouble...but we would tease him otherwise. I love you...I'll miss everything about you. When I join you...I'll race you to the top of the flag pole! 💕🥰

We may have not known each other very well but I always known you as a good guy always nice respectful an a good friend. I remember when you an Alex would come over an hang out with my brother Jacob and play games an give us pointers on how to fight witch you were pretty dang good at. And you always had a smile on your face. But knowing your in a better places no more suffering and at rest gives a piece of mind.  Fly high my friend you will never be forgotten.

We didn’t know eachother very well, but I am so thankful for the times we did spend together. 
You’re love for others inspires me to love harder. To love the way you did was sincerely “being the hands and feet of Jesus” which will encourage me all the days of the rest of my life. 
Thank you for the good memories, the last memory I have is of game night and you yelling “it’s a quarter” and how I’ll never forget you’re voice in the back of my head, but the main thing was that we got to talk about Jesus. That we knew he had a plan for you after he saved you during Harvey. 
You were too young and sometimes we don’t understand his timing or his plan, but you are so surrounded by those who love you that I know you’re shining down. 
I will forever miss you, I wish I would have told you I loved you all the times you told me you loved Dakota so much and since we were a part of him you loved us too.

Hey Joshy, 

I really didn't think we were that close, but ever since I heard you were no longer with us, there's just been this absence and hurt in my heart. I'll always remember how respectful you were. Always calling me Miss Heather, every time you spoke my name. You had a very unique voice and calmness about you. I'll definately remember how much you loved our Leah. You would brag and brag and say you couldn't wait for her and Karder to grow up together. They will, and we will always tell them how great their Uncle Josh was. Fly high buddy, we love you.

Dominique can't be here right now, but I was able to talk with him last night. He wishes he could be here for you Alex.... He said to tell you he loved you and is praying for you and your family. He said that he had so many memories of you three just chilling! But, the one that stood out to me the most is he said that Josh and he would sing all the cool songs! It’s hard to find the words to say what I really want to say.. we had some amazing memories(even though I wanted to squeeze your head off for irking my nerves) you never failed to put a smile on my face. Our crying moments on my front porch talking about life and the future... the one thing I regret the most is not telling you I loved you enough or gave you the proper hug when you needed one... we’ve spent every good bad and heart breaking moments together and either if was me or you we always found a way to lift one another up. I know you’re up there telling me “kelsi girl, it’s alright, give Karder hugs and kisses for me”. I love you big dawg... rest easy my friend💙

I had the pleasure of meeting Josh around 5yrs ago. He could brighten any day with that smile. He always wanted to shoot a deer here but with no luck. I walked the woods behind my house today and sat for a couple hrs where you hunted. Had 2 doe walk down the trail. I know you were there and smiling. Love and miss you brother.

I only had the chance to hang out with josh a handful of times but everytime I did he was always making someone laugh and making sure everyone around him was smiling just by being himself. He was the life of the party no doubt and he will be missed dearly. Praying for the family💜

The Borel family used to be neighbors of mine down the street.. They had a basketball hoop in the driveway, and kids from up and down the Neighborhood would play football, basketball, tag, everything outside their house, almost everyday.. It was pretty much a community center, with friends of all colors shapes and sizes gathering to have fun. Josh, Kayla and Alex were always so kind and open. Some lifelong friendships and memories where made outside their house. They will always be friends, and my best wishes go out to the family!!

I remember meeting this kid when he was around 15.  It was a rough patch but he always gave everyone respect even when the truth hurt. Always willing to listen and strive to be better than yesterday. Loved his family and everyone in his life. He has a big heart and I love every moment we had together. When I get there we’ll finally have that drink and catch up. 

Josh and I were cousins. We may not have been super close , but we were still family. We always liked pictures and said Happy Birthday to each other every year. You are loved and will be missed!

I have known Josh since he was about 11 when his mom started working with me at Valero. Anytime he come into the store he always shiwed respect for his mother as well as his mother's coworkers. Hugs and prayers to his mom and family. Now it is time to fly high Josh
