Leonel Jimenez Mendoza

Leonel was a resident of Port Arthur for the past 10 years moving here from Los Angeles. He worked in construction for many years and then at factories in Los Angeles before retiring. He enjoyed planting gardens and reaping the harvest of his hard labor. Although he was not much of a gambler, he really enjoyed going to the casinos to forget his worries of having cancer.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers.

His survivors include his wife Adelaida Mendoza of Port Arthur; 3 sons, Ismael Mendoza of Port Arthur, Leonel Mendoza of Orange, Jesus Mendoza of Port Arthur; 4 daughters, Maria Mendoza of Dalton, GA, Marina Andrade of Port Arthur, Enriqueta Herrera of Port Arthur, Adelayda Figueroa of Port Arthur; 2 sisters, Francisca Mendoza and Rufina Mendoza both of Mexico; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Port Arthur, with Rev. Urbano Saenz, OSA, officiating and burial will follow immediately in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
