

Margaret Theresa Fontana Del Giacco of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017, in Montgomery, Texas. A native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Margaret was born on October 15, 1917. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Margaret was a devoted wife, and a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Margaret was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur, and several civic, religious and charitable organizations in the Port Arthur community, including La Sertoma Club, Red Cross, Mardi Gras of Port Arthur, and the Italian Club of Port Arthur. She was an amazing cook and baker, and the ultimate hostess. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, traveling, entertaining and visiting with her family and many friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Joseph
Del Giacco; parents, Annie and Lawrence Fontana; sister, Lena Piperi; niece, Elizabeth Piperi; and her brothers, Fred Fontana, Larry Fontana and Benny Fontana.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Virginia Fontana, Frances Fontana and Katherine Fontana; nieces, Anne Cooney, Anna Marie Fontana, Mary Hollar and Camela Elliott; nephews, Lawrence Fontana, Brian Fontana, Larry Fontana, Benny Fontana, Fred Fontana Jr., Nick Fontana and Julian Fontana; 25 great nieces and nephews, 11 great-great nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by a funeral service (also at Grammier-Oberle) with Fr. J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Fontana, Brian Fontana, Larry Fontana, Benny Fontana, Fred Fontana, Jr., Nick Fontana and Julian Fontana. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Cooney, Ken Hollar and Rick Elliott.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to Traditions Healthcare - Hospice Division, 1192-D West Dallas St., Conroe, Texas 77301 (Attn: Maggie), or to the Scholarship Fund at Lamar State College – Port Arthur, P.O.
