Melba Breaux Landry, 91, of Lufkin, formerly of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Houston, TX. Melba was born in Rayne, Louisiana and after six months a family decision was made to move to the, “promised Land”, better known as Port Arthur. Melba was raised on Beaumont Avenue in a duplex with a series of “guests” that made life interesting in her early childhood. Melba later fell in love with a handsome baseball player, Wesley Landry. Wesley was part of the greatest generation and after serving his country in WWII they were back together and married shortly after the war.
Many wonderful years followed with Wesley having steady employment at B.F. Goodrich and Melba stayed busy raising her three Children, Gary, Jeff and Leslie. All three children wen t to Lamar and became Chemical Engineers just like their daddy.
We will as her children, her friends and family will dearly miss the fun loving Melba. She is surely rejoicing with all her might in heaven- we believe.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Groves, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves with Monsignor Kenneth Grieg officiating.
