Wanda Layne Harlow, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Wanda lived a life full of devotion, compassion, and service to her family, her faith, and her community.
Wanda graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1962 and went on to attend Lamar Business College in 1964, earning her associate's degree in Secretarial Studies. Shortly thereafter, she began her career in banking, a profession she would dedicate 40 years to. Throughout her career, Wanda worked for numerous companies, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. She was a mentor to many young professionals and was known for her leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence. Wanda retired in 2008 after four decades of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, professionalism, and mentorship.
A lifelong Christian, Wanda was a devoted member of her church and faithfully served in various ministries throughout her life. She loved to sing praises to the Lord and shared the gospel with anyone she could. Her generosity and compassion knew no bounds, and she was a constant source of encouragement to those around her.
Above all, Wanda was a loving and caring mother to her three sons—Scott, Roy, and John—and a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She cherished her family and was happiest when surrounded by them. In addition to her family, Wanda enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching her favorite television shows. She had a zest for life, a sharp sense of humor, and a kindness that brightened every occasion.
Wanda is survived by her son Scott Harlow; and her son John Bagley; her brother Robert Strodderd; her grandchild Jesi and husband Corey Austin, her grandchild Jon Harlow, her grandchild Keelin, her grandchild Taryn, her grandchild Shalyn Bagley and her great-grandchild Evelyn Rose Hebert.
Wanda was preceded in death by her son Roy Bagley; her father Magnus Stroder; her mother Beulah Leger; her sister Jeannette Hebert.
A gathering of family & friends for Wanda will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas 77642, followed by a celebration of Wanda's life from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
Wanda will be laid to rest in Green Lawn Memorial Park , 3900 Twin City HWY, Groves, Texas 77619.
