Agnes was born on June 13, 1927, in Montreal, Canada to Florence Catherine Olsen and Robert Haldane. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Rudolf Haldane; her sister, Catherine Margaret MacNeill; and her ex-husband, William Luther Sweet.
She is survived by her children, Richard Young Sweet of Virginia; David Haldane Sweet (MaryJane) of Florida; Catherine Margaret Sweet Deadrick (Stephen) of Maryland; and Sally Anne Sweet Byrnes (Kevin) of Pennsylvania; in addition to her eight grandchildren, Devon, Kate, Jessica, Matthew, Jillian, Ryan, Jack, and Danny; and two great-grandchildren, Mary and Hannah Wright.
Agnes “Andy” moved from Canada to the United States in her 20’s where she raised a family and had many pursuits, including American Red Cross, IBM, real estate sales, and serving as an election official.
Andy loved sports and participated in the Senior Olympics well into her 80’s. She was a strong tennis player and enjoyed watching any sporting event especially football and baseball. Andy was an accomplished bridge player. Above all else, Andy was a people person. She loved to hear everyone’s life story, be it a complete stranger or a new friend. She traveled extensively and made an impact wherever she went with her beauty, charm, and intelligence.
Agnes was a lifelong, devout Catholic. She was comforted in her last hours by the church and visitation from clergy. The family is grateful for the exceptional care and compassion Agnes received from the Palms and hospice staff.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation at treasurehealth.org.
