I wasn't exactly friends with Alexie, but I had him in my freshman art class—the entire year he was always so cheerful and talkative with the friend that sat beside him. (I forget his name, but it was a guy with short blonde hair). Though I never entered into Alexie's world, even I (a classmate), could see that every day he was surrounded by a loving friend and I didn't doubt for a second that he had even more wonderful people by his side. I still remember trying to work whilst Alexie and his friend were joking around, even with my headphones on I could still hear every laugh. I don't think I was ever too productive because I was trying so hard to hold my laughter in.

I saw him at other points throughout that school year and onward, never talking but always observing from afar. Everytime I saw him he always had an entourage of friends following him. He was always smiling. So when I heard this news from a friend I was confused, then another friend confirmed his name and photo and I started crying on the spot. I know I didn't really know him that well—but just knowing that I sat beside him for a year and saw him constantly around campus for the next three years, even as just another classmate, made me really emotional.

I write this message on the behalf of me and my three friends who are in similar situations. We may not have known Alexie personally, but he was still a part of our lives. We each express our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Alexie was one of my most beloved Culinary students. I will always cherish the times I got to spend with him in class, at banquets and practicing for our management competition. He was full of life, charismatic and kind to all. He  loved coming back to my classroom, even after he advanced to the next level of culinary, to make eggs with his best friend Brody. Truly one of a kind, will be missed by all, everyday. 🩷

I was Alexis’s 3rd grade teacher.  He was such a bright and caring young man.   I was saddened to hear he passed away.  Praying for peace and comfort for his family during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for the loss of this young man. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. They were our neighbors, a truly wonderful family. When my son told me about his passing, I was shocked and deeply saddened. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find comfort and strength in the memories they shared.

I am heartbroken to learn that Alexie has passed. He was a student in my advanced 8 th grade ELA class at Southern Oaks Middle School. He was so bright, serious about his studies, polite and had a wonderful sense of humor. When I retired he wrote a beautiful note to me.  Alexie was very special. My prayers go out to his family.

I spoke to Alexis most recently a few months ago. We shared a laugh. He truly was a bright kid with a warm soul. He was very kind.  I will cherish that memory of him and am anguished to hear of his passing. Many prayers for the Truong family during this difficult time.

Alexie was a wonderful friend to my son, and we will always be grateful for the time he was a part of his life. His passing fills us with deep sadness. We lift up our prayers that God may grant strength and comfort to his entire family during these very difficult moments. May he rest in peace
