

David Edward Basford, age 58, passed away suddenly Monday afternoon December 21st 2015 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft. Pierce with his family at his bedside. He was born in Zanesville, OH, in 1957 and moved to Miramar, FL, in 1969 and then to St. Lucie county in 1998. His hobbies and passions included his cats, carpentry, cooking, fishing, following professional and collegiate sports (the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and UCF Knights), gardening, listening to 80s music, and watching horror films. He studied mortuary science at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service as well as mechanical engineering and architecture at Miami Dade State College. He was very proud of his family's scholastic pursuits, careers, and hard work, and, likewise, they were very proud of his. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean A. Marhan-Basford, daughter, Nicole J. (Dennis) Henry, sister, Paula M. (Jimmy) Davis, and nephew, Justin S. Davis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary L. Basford, father, Ronald R. Basford, father-in-law, Joseph A. Marhan, and mother-in-law, Vilma D. Marhan. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 28th 2015 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. A mass and Christian burial will be held Wednesday, December 30th 2015, 1:00PM, at Annunciation Catholic Church, West Park, FL, with internment to follow at Fred Hunters Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, FL. In lieu of flowers, family has asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association in honor of David's successful open heart surgery on October 1st 2002. His family would also like to thank Mr. George Seliga, Mr. Samuel Bryant, Mrs. Kathy Schulz, and the Aycock staff for their professionalism and thoughtfulness.
