Born on July 22, 1939 in Terre Haute, Indiana to William and Laura Strauser, Dolores was the younger sister of two brothers, Floyd and William. She graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1957. In 1959, she married her first husband, Joe D. Latham, who passed away unexpectedly in 1969. She relocated to Clearwater, FL in 1976 with her six children. She later married John C. Duncan of Massachusetts in 1987; they were married for 34 years and made Florida their permanent home in the 1990s, residing in Orange City and Ormond Beach.
Known as “Dee” to her friends, Dolores built a career in customer service, working at Clearwater Community Hospital and serving as Activities Director at John Knox Village before joining The Daytona Beach News-Journal as a customer service representative from 1997 until her retirement in 2006.
In her free time, she especially enjoyed baking cookies and making candies during the holidays, sewing projects and tending to her houseplants. A devoted basketball fan, she rarely missed a game involving her favorite team, the Boston Celtics. Above all, she treasured time with her large family and the memories they created together.
Dolores is survived by five children and two step-children: Pamela Waine and spouse (David) of DeBary, FL; Jeff Latham of Palm City, FL; Jay Latham of Largo, FL; Chris Flynn and spouse (Thea) of Terre Haute, IN; Kim Lyons and spouse (Bill) of Wakefield, MA; Scott Duncan of New York, NY; and Jono Duncan of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Latham (February 1969); her husband, John C. Duncan (May 2022); her granddaughter, Kristina Latham (October 2014); and her son, Kevin D. Latham (October 2025).
