He is survived by his sons, Gerry, David and Gino, and his daughter Bernadine; and his
grandchildren Paisley, Lauren, Christa, Kaley, Jon, Sophia, Antonia, Vincent, and Violet, As well as his brother Antonio. He is preceded in death by his mother Teresa, his father Gerardo, his former-wife Della, his
brother Pasquale and his sister Bernadine, as well as his nephew’s Pasquale Jr., and Raymond.
Gino was born on March 13 th in Sera di Pratola, Avellino, Italy, to parents Teresa (Bavaro) Follano
and Gerardo Follano. His oldest brother Pasquale immigrated to Pennsylvania in the late 1940’s
where he worked hard and sent money home so their mother, Gennaro and brother Antonio could
also immigrate to America.
Gennaro was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran and served initially in Duluth, MN where he met his
then wife Della. He was reassigned to Alaska where he and Della had their eldest son Gerard
Owen.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force Gennaro moved to Inwood, New York and
entered the family landscaping business with his father Gerardo and his brother Pasquale and
successfully built that business for over 25 years before retiring from that business in the late 1970’s
to work as a mechanic for the major beverage manufacturer, Pepsico in Long Island City.
Gennaro was always a dreamer and a fighter who was always there for anyone who needed a hand
and was always there and gave his last measure to any family member that needed help. He always
put the needs of his family ahead of his own. He was loved and respected by his entire family and will be sorely missed.
A viewing is scheduled for Gennaro on Wednesday July 8 th at 6 PM at Aycock Funeral Home in Port
St. Lucie, Florida. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette’s in Port St. Lucie on
Thursday July 9th at 10 AM. His burial will be conducted at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Pierce shortly
after the mass concludes. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gino’s life and the family is receiving guests for a reception following services. Suit jackets optional due to the heat.
