01 July 1940 to 12 January 2026
Judith “Judy” Nawrocki passed away peacefully at home in Port St. Lucie, FL with her beloved husband, Bernie, by her side.
Judy was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, lived 30 years in Smithtown, NY and retired to Port. St. Lucie, FL where she lived with her husband Bernie.
Judy graduated College Misericordia with a BS in Secretarial Sciences and taught high school in Allentown, PA.
After marrying Bernie, they moved several times, finally settled in Smithtown, NY where Judy dedicated herself to raising their 3 children and taking care of their family. Once the kids were older, she worked as a Legal Secretary for a Law Office specializing in Bankruptcy for 18 years. She also worked at Macy’s on Long Island for a few years during the holiday season.
Judy was an avid book lover, usually reading 2 to 3 books a week from a wide variety of authors. She loved music of all genres and had quite an eclectic music collection. Judy enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and other arts and crafts. She created beautiful holiday-themed wreaths, crocheted blankets, and knitted scarves as gifts for family members and friends. Judy loved college basketball’s “March Madness” and cheered for the underdogs. She loved lighthouses from the time she was a child and delighted in reading stories of their history.
Judy was happiest when spending time with her family. She was kind and loving by nature and was generous with both her time and resources, freely giving to others in need.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Bernie; they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September; her children, Bernie (Lori Maschi), Ann Marie, and her grandchildren Jason Maschi (Shane Marshall Brown), Nicholas, Jillian, Jaylynn, and Andrew; her sister Joan Dougherty (Charles Dougherty) and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Linn Dougherty for thoughtfully and lovingly assisting Bernie in caring for Aunt Judy during her final years of illness.
Judy was preceded to heaven by her parents, Rose Toole Longenhagen and Joseph Longenhagen and her son, Michael J. Nawrocki.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
