With profound sorrow but hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Lily B. Gotto, age 97, on October 20, 2024, at her cherished home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born and raised in Rumford, Maine, Lily was the beloved daughter of the late James and Helen Breau. She attended local schools in Mexico, Maine, where she formed the foundation of her faith, values, and work ethic, all of which she carried throughout her life.
Lily’s life was one of faith, family, and hard work. A devout Catholic, she was a dedicated member of Holy Savior Parish in Rumford, Maine, and later, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she embraced every moment with a joyful heart and trust in God's plan.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and found great joy in every moment shared with those she loved. Summers spent in the beauty of Maine and winters in Florida brought her immeasurable happiness, especially when she could be near the water, a source of peace and reflection for her.
Lily worked tirelessly as an office manager throughout her career, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew her. Her dedication and diligence shone brightly in every role she held.
She is survived by her loving daughter and friend, Janet Hickey Rowe and her husband James of Miami, FL, and Worthley Pond, ME; her granddaughter Michelle Perlette and her husband John of West Palm Beach, FL; her amazing grandson James (JJ), who lovingly cared for her over the past six years; and her great-grandson John Michael Perlette of Mableton, GA.
Lily is reunited in eternal life with her beloved husband Francis L. Gotto, her parents James and Helen Breau, her six brothers James, Rene, Lionel, Edward, Omer, and Ray Breau, and her cherished grandson Kevin.
Lily’s deep faith, love of family, and kind spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to have known her. Her legacy of love and devotion will be carried on through her family, and she will be deeply missed by all.
A private burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Rumford, Maine, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lily’s name to the wonderful caregivers at Treasure Coast Hospice, whose compassion and care meant so much to her family, by visiting https://treasurehealth.org/292/Donate.
Silent Tear
Author Unknown
Each night we shed a silent tear, As we speak to you in prayer. To let you know we love you, And just how much we care. Take our million teardrops, Wrap them up in love, Then ask the wind to carry them, To you in heaven above.
