Michael Stephen Zumpone, 55, passed unexpectedly from this life on September 23, 2014. Born August 21, 1959 in Manhattan, N.Y., Michael moved to Long Island at age 3, spending his formative years in Central Islip and Holbrook. He worked primarily in the restaurant business, 10 years at Mama Lombardi’s in Holbrook, before moving to Florida in 1990 and starting Franco’s Restaurant in Jensen Beach. Most recently he worked with his good friend Mark Mueller at Ellie’s Deli in Stuart, FL.
A Stuart newspaper review of Ellie’s Deli, posted as a plaque on the wall of the deli, refers to Mike as the “personable server.” Michael’s greatest skill was his ability to connect with people. He could schmooze, he was charming, and everyone who ever met him would remember that day! Full of energy and life, he embraced every day God gave him.
He is survived by his two daughters: Ashley Zumpone and Danyelle Cinque; wife Eileen Cody, mother and father, Catherine and Richard Zumpone, brothers Rich (Lisa), Stephen (Kathleen) and Kevin; sister Karen. Nieces and nephews; Keri Conner, Zack Conner, Dominic Zumpone, Alyssa Zumpone, Elli Zumpone, Destiny and Joselyn Zumpone and two extraordinary, great friends: Mark Mueller and Pete Luyster.
