With a heavy heart and great sadness, we mourn the passing of Rae Jordan on January 31st, 2021 at the age of 75. She was a fierce individual who overcame many medical obstacles in the past two decades, but with too many complications, she was unable to win this most recent fight.
She was the loving daughter of the late Robert and Valentina Jordan of Mansfield, Massachusetts and sister of the late Roberta “Bobbi” Goodman of Dennis, MA and is survived by her nephew, Frank Goodman, Jr. of Mansfield, MA; niece Terry Sibilia (Goodman) of Simpsonville; SC, three great-nieces, Melissa West (Goodman) and Courtney Mullen (Goodman) of Mansfield, MA, Leah Sibilia of Alexandria, Virginia; two great-nephews, Curtis Goodman of Reading, MA and Nick Sibilia of Honolulu, Hawaii; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
Rae was born and raised in Mansfield, MA and graduated from Boston College, with a degree in education and sociology. Early in her career, she was a school teacher for Mansfield and Norton, MA public schools. After many years of teaching, she had moved all around, from California, to Paris, France, to Phoenix, Arizona, which became her absolute favorite place to live. She loved to travel and after teaching, she spent many years “on the road” as a travel director, managing onsite events and meetings. She became a master negotiator with hotels and vendors, and everyone in the industry knew her, loved her and knew she always meant business. With thirty years in the industry, she had friends everywhere she went, and everywhere she went, people knew who she was and always thought highly of her. She absolutely loved to travel the world and lived life to the fullest.
In 2008, she received a double lung transplant. She joked that she got Heath Ledger’s lungs, since it was right after he had passed. We were all given the gift of more time with her because one person made the selfless decision to be an organ donor. If you are not an organ donor, please, sign up (www.donatelife.net) and make sure your loved ones know your wishes. You could save someone’s life and give someone and their family more time together.
After semi-retiring, she moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida which then became her second favorite place to live. She worked at Home Depot to stay busy and as she did in her past jobs, everyone was drawn to her likeable, no-BS personality.
She lived in the moment—loving to travel, enjoying time with friends and family. Everyone who knows her loves her, and everyone who loves her has many stories to tell of shared laughter and memories. She played a large part of Frankie’s and Terry’s lives as well as the great nephew and nieces’ and cousins’ lives and our hearts are left empty with her passing.
She loved cats and dogs and most of her life she always had at least one cat (Jigsy being her favorite, so much so that she had a Jigsy, Jr).
Her passing was due to many complications, one of which was her fight against COVID-19. Please take this virus seriously to protect yourself and those you love. Don’t think you are exempt from being impacted by this virus. Please wear a mask, wash your hands, and be safe.
Her memory will live on forever in our hearts. At this time, at her request, there will be no services and her ashes will be spread in the future, according to her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memorium may be made to the following organizations: Donor Organ (www.Donatelife.net) or your local animal shelter. She would want us to remember her by not worrying about her or being sad about her passing; she’d want you to raise your next glass in her name - salute, Rae.
