Robert R. Shappell

Born in Haddenfield, NJ, he was a resident of Port St. Lucie since 2007, moving from Port Charlotte, FL.

Robert served in the US Navy.

Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed mechanic for many years.

Mr. Shappell volunteered for Treasure Coast Hospice for 16 years, working with therapy dogs. He also volunteered with the Golden Retriever Rescue. Robert was an avid scuba diver and boater.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Grace Shappell of Port St. Lucie, FL; one son, Robert W. Shappell of Port St. Lucie, FL; six daughters, Terry Smith of Napa Valley, CA, Debbie Furtak of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Linda Woody of Lake Park, FL, Cathy Shappell of Jensen Beach, FL, Donna Zabriskie of Palm Beach, FL, Cindy Fuhrman of Port Charlotte, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister Karen Hahn of Atco, NJ and brother David Shappell of Cape May Courthouse, NJ.
