Grandma made me feel like a real New Yorker. 

We may have moved to Europe when I was young but it was you and Grandpa who made me feel like I always had a home, and every time the Yankees are on TV, I always think of  you and The Bronx.

I think of going to your house and breaking records for eating meatballs, of drinking coffee at a young age, and, most importantly, of being loved.

I loved and admired Ruby's positive Christian demeanor. I will always remember and cherish the way she accepted me as a sister in her family.  She was loved by my daughters ( Sandra, Ava, Lisa, Gaye and Tamara) who say that she reminded them so much of their father.
Sleep on my sister, you have left a legacy of love for your family and friends to hold on to. 

Ruby's faith enabled her to utilise her God-given talents to grow showing love and support to many generations and ages from her elderly mother Annie and for her husband John, to assisting her youngest sister Joan settle into a new country. May you rest in peace.

Aunt Ruby was a very lovely member of the family.
She was loved by her parents, brothers and sisters.
She was also loved by her cousins and numerous nephews and nieces.
Her brother Owen (Uncle Sonny), his wife (Aunt Myrtle), and their children: Maxine, Donna-Rose, Owen (Junior), Michael (Al), and Marjorie ; all had a close relationship with her.
Aunt Ruby's legacy of love lives on in the lives of so many of us who she impacted. 

Aunt Ruby was a great family member and a wonderful person. She was a trailblazer and a trendsetter. She was lover of life and people. A loving caring woman of great values and exceptional abilities in the field of education and human and interpersonal skills. An orator of cultural and spiritual values, artists, poet, fashion designer. She was the ultimate human.  Aunt Ruby the warrior Princess. 

My father, Horace Malcolm, Ruby Shillace's nephew shared many wonderful memories with his dear aunt. The one that he cherishes the most is when she bought him his first musical instrument, which led him to further his interest in music. Because of her kindness, he eventually became a well-known musical artist, which led him to play music and sing in the UK, Europe and beyond.  Thank you Aunt Ruby for being a pillar in our family and for your many kind deeds. May you rest in peace.

To my dearly beloved Aunt Ruby:  We shared so many fond memories about several aspects of life.  As a young person growing up, I looked up to you as someone who had overcome many of the obstacles often confronted by people of colour.   You were an influential Educator and an astute business woman.  You had an overwhelming love for your family members, always imparting words of wisdom or financial assistance.   

You were a Diva in your own right and had panache, often depicted by the beautiful gowns you adorned.
