Albert J Doughty Jr. was born on March 28, 1958 to Albert and Cynthia Doughty Sr. in Portland Maine, he passed away at his home in New Gloucester Maine on May 20, 2025.
Tinker, as everyone knew him, was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Bonnie Lee Doughty, his parents, Albert and Cynthia Doughty Sr, and his sister, Patricia Bubar. Tinker leaves behind his two sons, Albert Doughty III and his wife Amanda of New Gloucester and Joshua Doughty and his fiance Jamie Perfect, of West Newfield. His sister, Leah Pyy, his nephew, who was always more like a brother, Dan Bubar and his wife Melissa, grandchildren Haley and her spouse Acelyn, Albert IV, Jayden, Lillian and Cecilia, great granddaughters Rosie and Ainslee (his sweet pea), many sisters and brothers in law who he cherished very much, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless other family members.
Tinker was a jack of all trades, in his early years he followed his fathers foot steps working on the wharf, then went into roofing, later in life he obtained his class A CDL and drove for Yarmouth Lumber for several years, eventually becoming a driver/trainer and starting Doughty's Trucking, from there he went to work for his niece and nephew Tammy and Reggie Wyman at Wyman Paving, there he got to work side by side with both of his sons, this lead to all three of them working for Coastal Road Repair where Tinker drove and trained his son Albert to get his class A CDL. After Tinker retired, he drove taxi a couple of days a week to keep himself busy, especially after Bonnie passed.
Tinker had a love for short track racing which quickly became a family tradition, he started his racing career at Beechridge Motor Speedway with the help of Joe Boucher, Albert Sr. and so many others, he then became part of Dan Bubar's pit crew, Josh's pit crew in the mighty truck division, and later on Corey Bubar's (his God Son), his favorite times were spent at the race track with the people he loved. Tinker was also an avid outdoorsman, from fishing, hunting, ice fishing, four wheeling, to camping, he passed this on to his sons and grandchildren and made so many lasting memories. Tinker could always be found with a guitar and a deck of cards to play a game of cribbage, it never felt like the holidays until he started playing and singing Christmas songs. He will be greatly missed but we take solace in knowing that he is reunited with Bonnie.
A celebration of life will be held on July 26th 12pm at Al and Amanda's house in New Gloucester.
