

After a brief illness, Carolyn Louise Sloat passed away at Maine Medical Center on July 2, 2022. Carolyn was born on March 26, 1948 to Beverly (Gratham) and Arthur Sloat. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine in 1970, and spent her career as a Public Health Nurse for the State of Maine.
Carolyn was an avid reader and member of multiple bookclubs. She loved animals and rescued many pets over the years, finding new homes for them. She volunteered for the Maine Wildlife Park and was an active member of the West Cumberland Methodist Church. Carolyn loved Broadway and theater, enjoyed travelling, was an excellent baker and cook who often tested new recipes on family and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Barry Sloat and his wife Colleen of Raymond; her niece Michelle Coyne and her husband Michael and their children Ryan and Cory of Gorham; her nephew Adam Sloat of South Portland; her honorary daughters Elizabeth Sutton, Amanda (Sutton) Holmen, and Meredith Ward; and her honorary grandchildren Benjamin and Claire Holmen; and many friends and family who will all miss her greatly.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1 pm at the West Cumberland United Methodist Church followed by a celebration of her life at the Church Community Center.
