

SACO- Chester Goggin, 72, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on July 31, 2024 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME.
Born on August 8, 1951 in Gardiner, ME to William Goggin and Thelma Eye. He was the third of four children. He graduated from Hall-Dale high school in Farmingdale, ME in the class of 1969.
Shortly after graduation, he began his 25-year career in the US Navy as a medical Nurse, where he traveled extensively visiting all 50 states, 45 countries on 4 continents, where he established countless friendships. His hobbies and interests included dancing of any style, especially ballroom dancing, needlework, knitting, crocheting, swimming, auctions, gardening and especially the gift of gab. Recently, after living in Freeport, ME. for over 30 years, he started a new chapter in his life with the purchase of his beautiful new home in Saco.
Chester was preceded in death by his father William in 2020, his brothers Richard (Rick) in 1971 and Kenneth in 1994. His uncle Donald Eye 1985 and his aunt, Shirley Williams 2015. His two cousins, Hubert Goggin Jr in 1965 and Daniel Williams in 2024.
He is survived by his mother, Thelma Brooks and his sister, Donna Goggin, both of Waterville. Two nephews, Joel Goggin of CA, Tom Stevens of Randolph, Me and 4 great nephews. He is also survived by his cousin Jeff Williams of Portland, Shannon Williams-May of Westbrook, Liz Helton and Julie Gilmore of Fallon, NV, Hedy Curtis, and Sharon Goggin of Pittston, Me his life long friend Molly Gallant of Gardiner and Guy Duprey of Portland and countless other friends.
Per Chester’s wishes, there will be no funeral, but he did request a celebration of life, which will be held at time to be determined. He will be laid to rest at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Me at a later date.
