Dan (as he preferred to be called) passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2019 at 5:35 PM at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. He was 54. His mother Nancy and his friend Lynn were by his side. Dan had been visited many friends and family in the days before his death, including his brother Dana, his sister Traci, his father Rick, his friend Laura (who’s help during this time was a true blessing), his uncle Butch, his aunts Jeanette and Jann, and many others. He was always in great spirits whenever these visits occurred, and often spoke of the future and his plans for when he got better.
Dan was born in Lynnfield, Massachusetts to Nancy Beaudoin and James Richard (Rick) Lynch on January 16, 1965. Nancy later married Larry McKissick, and Traci was born a year later. After divorcing, Nancy raised her three children in her home state of Maine.
Dan was wild, rambunctious, outgoing, devious, fearless, and passionate. He loved music, hockey, being outdoors, playing guitar, fishing, going to parties, and just hanging out with friends. You could say that Dan lived life to the fullest, which often got him into trouble. But he was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. He used his passion for hard work and being outdoors to start his own landscape business which was a success until he injured his back.
Later he would embrace two religions: Seventh Day Adventist and NASCAR. Dan became a very devout person, thanks in part to a relationship with his friend Tonya. He spent a tremendous amount of time doing volunteer work for the church. The pages of the many bibles he owned were all well worn. His belief in Christ helped him through many difficult times.
Dan loved NASCAR. He watched every race on TV, attended races in person, and met the drivers. His encyclopedic knowledge of NASCAR was impressive. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Dan avoided social media, but made an exception for the various NASCAR on-line groups, where he was well known. He also collected NASCAR memorabilia and left behind a vast collection.
Later in life he became very close with his friend Lynn. She was raising her granddaughter, Madi. Dan became very close to them and over the years Dan and Madi formed a father/daughter relationship. His faith in God and his new family helped keep Dan grounded. Lynn was extremely helpful to Dan during his illness, and the family will be forever grateful to her.
Dan left behind his mother Nancy, his father Rick, his brother Dana, his sister Traci, his former brother-in-law John, his aunt Jann, his cousins Roger, Tiffany, and Tara, his cousin Joanne, his uncles Benoit, Butch, and Roger (who has since passed), his aunts Marian, Jeanette, and Mildred, and his nephews Kyle, Cody, Cameron, and Dean. He also left behind a legacy of people who loved him and were lucky to have shared his captivating spirit. There was no service at the time of his passing, but the family will hold a small private remembrance some time in the future.
