She is survived by her small circle of friends, cousins and co-workers.
Em, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an inner strength. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of many whose lives she touched. We ask that you remember her by how she lived.
After her graduation from Gates Chili High School, Emily embarked on a mission to get her Masters. She received a BA in Creative Writing and Women’s Studies from Binghamton University and worked tirelessly to get her Master of Arts in Communications from Southern New Hampshire University. Her ailing health the last few years prevented her from completing her last course but Em didn’t need a diploma for people to know she was “a real talent”.
Emily held many creative professional positions including Graphic Artist at Foster’s Daily Democrat, Art Supervisor/Prepress Manager at Bovie Screen Process Printing Co, and Production Manager at Pannos Marketing before accepting a position at NH Soil Consultants. Em was a one woman marketing machine for this small consulting firm that led to a long career at GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. as a Senior Administrative Assistant and Marketing Coordinator.
Emily was constantly in pursuit of the beauty in life. She loved art, music, books, cooking, and dogs most of all. She could always regale you with a good story or a stinging quip. Em left an impression on those that knew her and was a fast favorite at River Ridge Center in Kennebunk where she spent her final months. Special thanks to the staff who cared for her there and Sherrie Trefry, her best friend, who was by her side.
In keeping with her wishes, a celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, August 14 from 5-7 pm at Bug Light Park in South Portland, Maine. Attendees are welcome to share stories or talents in her honor starting at 6 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Dogs and children welcome.

PS. If anyone can get a marching band, Em really wanted a parade!
