Harry Dean Walker, 98, of Auburn, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2025, while watching the Red Sox v. White Sox game. He was born in Auburn, Maine in 1927, the fourth child of Wallace Dean Walker and Angie L. (Mower) Walker.
Harry attended Edward Little High School and, after his military service, graduated in 1945. Harry served in the Navy aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific near the end of WWII. After discharge he returned home and a few years later, he married his wife, Elaine Jean (Boothby). Together they had two daughters, Jolene and LuAnn. Harry retired from Sears and Roebuck, in Lewiston, Maine where he spent his working career.
After he retired, Harry built and flew an ultralight airplane and continued to enjoy riding his bicycle, gardening and keeping his lakeside home and yard in near perfect shape. Always a Red Sox fan, he and Jean traveled to Florida to attend Red Sox spring training games for many years.
Harry was a helpful and caring neighbor and friend, who was always ready to lend a hand or a tool or to give a little advice to anyone who needed it.
Up until his later years, Harry had been an active Mason and Shriner, as well as serving as president of the North Auburn Cemetery Association for many years.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Jolene Walker, who moved back home from Florida in 2023, to care for him and his home. He was predeceased by his daughter, LuAnn W. Harris in 2006, and his wife of 69 years, Elaine Jean (Boothbay) Walker in 2017.
