Marla L. (Dominicus) Segler

Portland, ME - Marla (Dominicus) Segler, 66, passed away at Maine Medical Center on May 25, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. A memorial mass will be held this Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 492 Ocean Ave in Portland, ME.

Marla was born in Portland, ME to parents Phyllis and Marlow Dominicus. She graduated from Portland High School and went on to travel the world as a military wife and mother. Marla spent her later years in the childcare field, where she spread her love and kindness to all children she cared for.

Marla’s Catholic faith led her through life, and she spent much time through the years celebrating that faith at St. Anthony’s parish in Westbrook. Marla enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marla enjoyed dancing and making many friends while camping through the years. Marla’s generous spirit and kind personality meant she made friends wherever she went. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all those who knew her.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, Barry Segler of Windham, ME;  her three children, Janelle Godwin of Fontana, CA, Marlow Godwin of West Palm Beach, FL, and Kaylene Godwin and her husband Thomas Coombs of South Portland, ME; four step children, Billy Segler, Bryant Segler, Keith Segler and Kathy Segler, all of Windham, ME; her 5 beloved grandchildren Jeaumane Godwin, Jaliyah Godwin, Jordan Godwin, Quinn Coombs, and Renly Coombs; her brothers Nick Dominicus and wife Edith Dominicus of Gray, ME, and Richard Domincus and wife June Domincus of Windham, ME; her niece Deana Dominicus Bonney and husband Chris Bonney of Gray, Me; her nephews Anthony Dominicus and wife Sara Dominicus of Standish, Me, and Tim Domincus and wife Tina Dominicus of Davenport, IA. Marla also held dear many cousins, extended family and friends, including those she worked with at the Children’s Adventure Center.
