OBITUARIO

Raymond James DUBE

30 julio , 195029 mayo , 2020

Portland, ME - On May 29, 2020 my darling little brother, Raymond James Dube lost his very long battle with emphysema.

Raymond was born to our parents, Lena Quatrano and Paul Quatrano on July 30, 1950 at Mercy Hospital.

Raymond had such a zest for life when his health was nothing but perfect. He was most proud of his volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House as a cook, The Special Olympics, riding his Harley to Augusta with Toys for Children, and his last job at Thatcher’s in South Portland and especially the people there. He also loved the summertime and the people at Old Orchard Beach, his favorite place with so many of his friends.

He also participated in many chili contests and won so many awards.

Ray and I talked lots of times about how blessed we were for all the unbelievable support that we have received from so many people, especially cousin Jimmy John, cousin Steven, Mario, Kelly and Roger and his special love for Worm and baby Jimmy and for his last few weeks. Thank you to our family and friends who were by his side ‘til the very end. Special thanks to best friends, Will, Ben and David.

Mercy Northern Lights, I cannot thank you and the entire E.R. who showed Ray and myself such kindness and compassion, thank you all, my amazing and hardworking angels of Mercy. A special thank you to Father Paul for making my brother and myself so peaceful on so many occasions. And of course, the entire staff at Northern Light Hospice, all of you nurses are amazing, especially our dear friend Stacey who was our life saver on so many occasions. I will always remember your never ending kindness to Ray and also to me. The entire Scarborough Fire Department, all of the E.M.S. workers; you saved my brother so many times and your kindness and love for people will always be remembered.

Ray especially wanted me to say thank you to Eric, his unbelievable doctor, without him, Ray would have never fought the way he did, right ‘til the very end.

Ray is survived by a sister who loved him so much, Dee Delia Foley, sister in law Jeanne Dube, many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and his much loved Aunt Hope and Aunt Kiki.

Ray was predeceased by his son Jacob Dube, our dear brother Butchie, and his very dearest cousin Ricky.

Thank you to all his friends and neighbors all around him at Pond View Drive. He loved his house so much, and it meant so much to him when you would wave, or stop by or blow your horns as you passed by.

On June 20, 2020 at 12:00 noon, you are invited to please stop by Dube’s house on 12 Pond View Drive, Scarborough to say hi, visit with us and enjoy some snacks.

I’m so very sorry as I only learned of Rays passing today even though we’re neighbors. I thought he might of been in the hospital as I hadn’t seen him lately but with Covid too, I thought he might be staying inside. Shocked he has passed. He was a great neighbor! Loved chatting with him about his flowers, yard and cooking, etc. I bake quite a bit and once awhile back he reluctantly asked me if I could make walnut brownies...after that he received a few batches of those until I got them exactly how he liked them! By then he felt comfortable enough to ask if I had a good recipe for whoopie pies. LoL...And of course I made them for him. By the 3rd time, he wanted that recipe for someone close to him. Cupcakes was the last I dropped off to him. Oh Ray...I’m going to miss baking for you and waving to you sitting in the garage and stopping by with my Tucker on walks. SO pleasant to talk with and I’m going to miss that most of all. So glad I knew you and we were friends. Tim and I and Mackenzie send our heartfelt condolences to all of your family & friends Ray. XO

Hey all ya'll from Middle Tennessee. Deeply saddened to learn of the passing my dear life friend Ray. I have sooooo many sweet memories of our growing up on Little Middle Street. I have always considered Butchie , Ray and the Dube's among my best and beloved friends. And thanks to Dee for her undying love for her family. She has always been the glue that held them together. Also, to Mr. Dube's quick actions over 66-yrs. ago that saved my life after I had fallen and severely cut my face. He rushed me to the hospital holding pressure on my face with one hand and driving and honking the car horn with the other. He will always be my personal hero. Although many miles and years have separated us, I have never forgotten our motley middle street family. I love them all. Rest in peace Ray-Ray. Hope to see you, Butchie et all again when The Lord calls me. With sincerest condolences, Carl and family.

My heart goes out to Raymond's family. He was a very special guy. From sharing his stories of the shenanigans in the many kitchens, family saga's & current events, to stopping by my office unannounced just to say Hi. I am forever grateful for those moments. The private cooking lessons were more about the visiting than the cooking but we still managed to get something on the plate. I will miss the tips and techniques acquired throughout his years of cooking he was always more than happy to share. "You don't need an expensive piece of meat you need this, and out came the "tenderizer"." It looked more like a weapon than a kitchen tool.

Ray, I will miss you with everything inside me. I will miss our hundreds of conversations and how we solved all the worlds problems in those conversations. The memories you shared with me about my brother Ricky, whom I know you are with. Your laugh was infectious. We shared, we laughed we never hung up without saying I love you. RIP my friend, my cousin, my mothers joke about you being her 11 child. You are loved by so many.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will remember the times he was at the family get togethers and his jokes and talking about the past and how him and my cousin were great friends growing up and the things they used to do. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
