Viola V. Ayer

Viola passed away peacefully on January 30th of natural causes at the age of 100! She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Cesare Vanni and Lina D'Alessandro. She married the love of her life in April of 1947, Robert W. Ayer and together they raised their four children in the great state of Maine.

As a devout Christian we know that she has joined her husband, parents, brother (Albert Vanni) and best friends in the Kingdom of Heaven. Surviving Vi are her beloved children, Jessie (Husband, Ray Parker), John (Wife, Christine Ayer), Janet (Husband Dan McKenney) and Jane (Husband Peter Melanson). She is also survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Jessie Laspina, eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews.

Viola enjoyed the simple things in life, a good meal, great friends and most of all her Family. She was known for her love of shopping, cooking, reading, watching soap operas, bird watching, pastries, trips with her girls, family time downeast, chatting on the phone, and even an occasional trip to the casino in her 90's! Viola was a true Matriarch and the epitome of a Heart of Gold.

The Family would like to Thank the care team at Elm Street Assisted Living & Chans Hospice in Topsham for their exceptional care.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Downeast Maine.
