Adrian Joseph Brancato passed away on January 8th, 2022 at the age of 79. He resided in Raleigh, North Carolina for the last 50yrs with his wife Marie Brancato, daughter Theresa Curnow and son Frank Brancato.
Adrian met Marie at a St Patrick’s day dance in 1962 and knew he’d met the love of his life that night. The happiness they shared help shape the amazing man he was. A wonderful, loving husband and father, always ready to help and share ideas. A thinker always, he often invented new gadgets to use being part engineer at heart. He attended Fordham in NYC for his undergrad and masters and later attended the University of Pennsylvania for PHD classes, ultimately settling in Raleigh where he worked for the NC Dept of Corrections for 30 years. Adrian started as a criminologist but ended up in data processing, long before most people even knew what a computer was! He always saw the big picture and was happy to support anyone having computer problems, both at work and long after in retirement. More accurately, he was always happy to help with problems of just about anything! His precision and attention to detail were meant for getting to the bottom of a problem. Often when people didn’t realize they even had a problem. 😊
Adrian also rode motorcycles for some 30 years. He and Marie travelled together to many destinations across the US. After retirement, they traded the bike for cruises to continue their journey worldwide. They went on 46 cruises to many parts of the world with many wonderful friends, some of whom they met because throughout all the years they continued their love of dancing.
Adrian was beloved by anyone who knew him. He was one to strike up a conversation with any stranger, and they didn’t remain a stranger for long if they appreciated (or even just tolerated) a good dad joke. He always had a smile for everyone and it was contagious. His respect for education and his mantra “never stop thinking” will be carried on by his grandchildren, who were so fortunate to have had a role model that understood people and ideas come in all forms, and should be heard and respected. His warmth and generosity were felt by anyone who came in contact with him and he will be sorely missed.
He was not one for a lot of fuss so no official memorial will be held, but he would be very happy knowing his loved ones were continuing to live their lives, both taking care of themselves and caring for others.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownwynneeastmillbrook.com for the Brancato family.
