Alice, a native of Wood River, Nebraska, was born on June 26, 1932, to the late Florence Strasser Gloe and Bryan Lorenzen. She attended Hastings College in Nebraska, then transferred to University of Northern Colorado at Greeley where she earned her degree in Education.
In 1954, she married Irvine Eades and moved to North Carolina where their four daughters were born and raised. Alice was active as a long time member at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, a volunteer in her community, a devoted Tarheel fan, and an outgoing person who cherished her time with family and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Irvine, her beloved first grandson, Will Redman, her son-in-law, Dennis Triplett, her parents, her step-father, Herman Gloe, two step-brothers, Don and Bob Gloe, and her sister- and brother-in-law, Erna and Mac McCormac.
She is survived by daughters Aline Redman (David), Lauren Eades (Stephen Clingan), Karen Triplett, and Diane Earwood (Alfred), her grandchildren Lee Redman, Anna Brown (JC), Kate Triplett, Becca Triplett, Emma Hoffman (James), and Ben Earwood, and her great-grandchildren, Landrum and Aydan Redman, and Anna-Claire Brown. She had numerous nieces and nephews she cherished as well.
A memorial service will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Road in Raleigh, on Friday, September 17, at 11:30 AM, followed by a short visitation at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s honor to White Memorial Church or to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
