Tina was born July 14, 1944, the eldest child of the late Robert and Marion Rothstein. She was a graduate of NC State University, a computer programmer and system analyst, accountant, homemaker, mah jong player, crafter, and founding member and president of the Cary chapter of Hadassah. But perhaps her favorite roles were proud mother, devoted wife, loving sister and aunt, and doting grandmother.
More than anything else, Tina loved children. She happily took her sister’s children into her home for extended summer visits, often had her children’s friends over to play, and even held babies for strangers in restaurants so the parents could eat their food. She was notorious for bringing candy and small toys to friends’ children. When her own grandchildren cried, she promised them the moon if that would make them happier.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Barry Weinstein of Cary; her siblings, Howard (Nettie) Rothstein of Dunwoody, GA, Phyllis (Stuart) Schwartz of Palmerston North, New Zealand, and Lee (Gail) Rothstein of Raleigh; her three children, Henry Weinstein of Cary, George Weinstein (Lesley Looper) of Morrisville, Philip (Heather) Weinstein of Apex; and two grandchildren, Talia Weinstein and Evan Weinstein.
