Carol Lillian Chapelle Curran was born November 26,1946 in Chicago, Illinois. She went to sleep at our home in Wake Forest, North Carolina on December 13th, 2023 and woke to eternal life reunited with her beloved husband Eugene, son Kevin, and parents Eleanor and Francois. She was also greeted by her great granddaughter, Ellanorah, her best friend and cousin, Christine Scott, and her dogs, Duke and Pugsly.
She faced many challenges throughout her life with mental health and a traumatic brain injury but always instilled the importance of following your dreams and not conforming to what is expected of you. She often reminded us we are creating our own realities so we should not be afraid to be daring and brave. She enjoyed needlework making many unique gifts for her family and was an avid reader of philosophy. She loved the music of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. She travelled the world having many adventures with Gene.
Carol, “song of joy” will be missed by her children Melissa Kandel (David Richards) and Jennifer (Jose) Rubalcada; daughter in law, Kathy Curran, along with 14 grandchildren: Kaelie Kandel, Kyra Kandel, Alec (Daesha) Rubalcada, Sean Curran, Mitchell Kandel, Ryan Curran, Corey Rubalcada, Asher Richards, Cole Richards, Wyatt Richards, Garrett Richards, Eric Rubalcada, Joseph Rubalcada, and her great granddaughter, Magnolia Jane Rubalcada. As well as our dogs Oscar, Koda, and Buster who all brought her much joy. She will also be remembered fondly by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a future date in Ft.Wayne, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the World Central Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, or ASPCA.
The family of Carol Curran wishes to thank Kind Kim’s Caregivers with special thanks to Donna Locklear, Cynthia Evans, Wanda Williams, and Jamie Augustine who became part of our family and supported us with love and care to enable mom to stay home with us until she found her eternal home with Jesus
